Junior Rugby JAB

will commence in Term 2 and provide Grades from Under 6 to Under 14. Under 6 and Under 7 play Rippa, and tackle commences at Under 8.

Since the formation of the Tasman Rugby Union in 2005 Wanderers have competed with distinction
in the Club championships.

Div 1 -- Champions in 2015 & 2016 and semi-finalists in

2017 & 2019.

Wanderers JAB VISION:


To create a Positive Learning Environment for all our children that will be:

 •      Based on small-sided games/activities that include everyone,

        are enjoyable, and have an element of competition to develop

        players’ skills
 •     Encouraging skill learning for everyone (slow starters may be

       successful later)
 •     Keeping activity levels high - less talking, more activity


•     Only focusing on one or two key factors at a time
•     Involving players in their own learning through asking questions
•     Allowing all players to experience every playing position

       -  the prop of today could be the halfback tomorrow! 
•     Using a range of different coaching styles during sessions
•     Reviewing sessions through self-reflection, discussion with

      other coaches and players


•     Sessions will be fun, varied, and enjoyable for all
•     Rewarding effort as well as achievement - ensuring players

      understand that success comes from working to be better

      players; Avoiding a 'win at all costs’ attitude

•     We will ensure all activities are safe – all coaches will complete

      the Rugby Ready and concussion management

•     Online learning modules guaranteeing their suitability to coach

•    We will stop the session immediately if safety is being

•    We will include appropriate warm-up and cool-down every time

     to ensure the players development and competencies
•    We will be consistent when dealing with poor behaviour.
